How to Cite MCT

To make your life a little easier, I’ve compiled a quick list of how to cite Mass Comm Theory if you need to in the various style format:

APA

In-Text Citation: (Davie, 20XX)
Where 20XX equals the year the blog post was written.

References:
Davie, G. (Year, Month Day {of post}). Title of specific post [Web log post].
Retrieved from URL of specific post

Example:
To cite the post on Cultivation Theory, you would use:

In-Text Citation: (Davie, 2010)

References:
Davie, G. (2010, March 12). Cultivation Theory: How Violence Might Affect Us [Web log post]. Retrieved from
https://masscommtheory.com/2010/03/12/cultivation-theory-how-violence-might-affect-us/

MLA

In-Text Citation: (Davie 20XX)
Where 20XX equals the year the blog post was written – only difference from APA is that no comma is used.

References:

Davie, G., “Title of individual blog entry.” Weblog entry. Mass Comm Theory. Date posted. Web. Date accessed.

Example:
To cite the post on Cultivation Theory, you would use:

In-Text Citation: (Davie 2010)

References:
Davie, G. “Cultivation Theory: How Violence Might Affect Us” Weblog entry. Mass Comm Theory. 12 Mar. 2010. Web. 16 Dec. 2013.

Assuming the Dec. 16, 2013 is the day it was accessed.

MLA no longer requires a URL to be posted.
